Public Finance (1574-1794)

This work is made on the occasion of the farewell lecture at the Free University of Professor W. Fritschy. Based on the charts from her research, I designed a sound landscape. Her charts show the public finances in Holland between 1574 and 1794. I've used the graphs as an enveloping mask for the discrete auditory display of a continuous flow of forest sounds that I've recorded in the fall of 2011. I also used the charts to drive the parameters of a resonance model. The resonances synthesize the sound character of falling silver coins on a marble plate. The composition empasizes on the textures that arise within the overlap of the sound material.
